End User License Agreement
Version 1.2 · Effective October 23, 2026 · Plain text
The app shows this agreement on first launch, and again whenever its version changes. Each version of TerminalLynx is governed by the agreement that comes with it.
Please read this agreement carefully. By installing, copying or using TerminalLynx, you agree to it. If you don't agree, don't install or use the software. If you accept it on behalf of a company or other organization, you confirm that you're authorized to bind that organization, and "you" means the organization as well as you.
1. Who this agreement is with
This agreement is between you and Derek Leeth ("we", "us"), the developer and copyright holder of TerminalLynx.
2. Definitions
"Software" means the TerminalLynx application, in object code form, including updates we provide and its documentation.
"License Certificate" means a license file (.tlxlic) we or our authorized reseller issued to you, which the Software checks to decide which plan applies.
"Free Plan" means use of the Software without a License Certificate.
"Pro" and "Team" mean the paid plans described in sections 4 and 5.
"Personal Use" means use by an individual for their own private, non-commercial purposes, such as a home lab, personal projects, study or hobby systems. Use for an employer or client, use in the operation of a business (including a non-profit's operations), and use for which you're paid are not Personal Use.
"Seat" means one person who is a member of a team workspace.
"Device" means a computer, phone or other device on which your identity in the Software is set up.
3. Free plan
Subject to this agreement, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Software for Personal Use only, within these limits: up to 25 saved connections and 25 saved credentials in your Personal workspace, up to 3 Devices, and no creating teams. You may join a team workspace that someone else has licensed under a Team plan, and use it as that team's license allows; your use of that team is then use on that team's behalf under its license.
4. Pro
A Pro License Certificate grants one named individual (the licensee shown on it) a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Software for any lawful purpose, including commercial use, without the Free Plan's limits, on any number of that individual's own Devices.
5. Team
A Team License Certificate grants the licensee organization a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Software for any lawful purpose, including commercial use, for up to the number of Seats shown on it, across the team workspaces the licensee attaches it to. Each member of those teams may use the Software for the team's purposes. The person holding the Team License Certificate also receives the rights of a Pro license.
6. Perpetual and subscription licenses
Pro and Team are each offered as a perpetual license or as a subscription. The License Certificate says which.
(a) Perpetual. A perpetual license covers every version of the Software released on or before the "updates until" date on the License Certificate, for as long as you comply with this agreement. Versions released after that date need a renewed or new license; you can keep using a covered version.
(b) Subscription. A subscription license covers the Software until the end date on the License Certificate, followed by a 14-day grace period. After that, unless renewed, a Pro subscription reverts to the Free Plan, and team workspaces under a lapsed Team subscription become read-only.
(c) Lapsing never deletes data. Information already in the Software stays on your Devices and remains usable for connecting to your servers; only adding or changing data beyond what your plan allows is prevented.
7. Restrictions
You may not, and may not allow others to:
(a) circumvent, disable or modify the Software's license checks, plan limits or seat counts, or use a modified copy of the Software to do so;
(b) create, alter or share License Certificates, or use a License Certificate issued to someone else;
(c) copy, modify, translate or create derivative works of the Software, except for copies needed to install it on Devices you're licensed to use;
(d) reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits this despite this restriction;
(e) rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense, distribute or provide the Software as a hosted service to others;
(f) remove or alter any copyright, trademark or other notices in the Software;
(g) use the Software to access systems you aren't authorized to access, or otherwise in violation of law.
8. Your data and privacy
The Software stores your data (connections, credentials, keys, tags and settings) on your own Devices, encrypted where the Software says it is. It doesn't require an account, it doesn't send us telemetry or usage data, and we don't receive your data. When you turn on peer networking, the Software exchanges data directly between your Devices and, for team workspaces, your teammates' Devices. If you choose to use a relay server (operated by a third party or by you), connection traffic passes through it in encrypted form. Update checks and automatic license renewal are off unless you turn them on.
You are responsible for: keeping backups of your data; keeping your master password, if you set one (it can't be recovered, and data protected by it can't be recovered without it); keeping your License Certificates, credentials and keys secure; and the servers and systems you connect to with the Software.
9. Team workspaces
Team administrators decide who may join a team and what each member may do. Data shared in a team is copied to every member's Devices. A member who is removed or leaves keeps whatever they could already access; the Software rotates keys to protect later changes but can't take back what was already shared. The licensee organization is responsible for whom it invites and for how its members use the Software.
10. Purchases
Paid licenses may be sold through an authorized reseller acting as merchant of record. Its terms govern payment, taxes, invoices, renewals and refunds. This agreement governs your use of the Software.
11. Updates and support
We may, but aren't required to, provide updates, fixes or support. Updates are covered by this agreement unless they come with a new agreement, in which case section 18 applies.
12. Third-party software
The Software includes open-source components that are licensed under their own terms, listed in the THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES file provided with the Software and shown in the app. Nothing in this agreement limits your rights under those licenses for those components.
13. Ownership and feedback
The Software is licensed, not sold. We and our licensors keep all rights, title and interest in it, including all intellectual property rights, except the rights this agreement expressly grants. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.
14. Termination
This agreement continues until terminated. Your rights end automatically if you breach it. You may end it at any time by uninstalling the Software. On termination you must stop using the Software. Sections 7 and 12 to 18 survive termination.
15. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, SECURE OR UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT DATA WON'T BE LOST.
16. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE, BUSINESS OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE OR THIS AGREEMENT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE OR THIS AGREEMENT WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR US $50 IF YOU PAID NOTHING. SOME JURISDICTIONS DON'T ALLOW CERTAIN OF THESE EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITATIONS, SO SOME MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
17. Export
The Software contains encryption. You agree to comply with all export, import and sanctions laws that apply to your use of it, and not to use or provide it where those laws prohibit.
18. Changes to this agreement
Each version of the Software is governed by the version of this agreement provided with it. A later version of the Software may come with a revised agreement, which you'll be asked to accept before using that version.
