Privacy policy

Short version: the TerminalLynx app sends us nothing, and this website keeps as little as it can. There are no accounts, no analytics scripts and no advertising.
The app
- Your connections, credentials, keys, tags and settings are stored on your own devices, encrypted where the app says so. We never receive them.
- The app has no telemetry and no crash reporting, and it doesn't need an account.
- Sync and teams exchange data directly between your devices and your teammates' devices, encrypted end to end. Peer networking is off until you turn it on.
- Relays are off unless you choose one. If you use a public relay (operated by n0, the makers of iroh) or your own, encrypted connection traffic passes through it; the relay can't read it.
- Licenses are checked offline. The app never contacts us to activate or verify one, so we don't know which devices use a license.
- Update checks are off unless you turn them on. When on, the app asks this website once a day whether a newer version exists, sending only its version, operating system, CPU type and update channel. See below for what the website keeps.
- Automatic subscription renewal is off unless you turn it on. When on, in the days around a subscription's monthly renewal the app sends that license certificate to this website once a day, and stores the next month's certificate if there is one. The certificate is all it sends; it's the same certificate we emailed you.
This website
- No tracking. The site uses no cookies for visitors, no analytics or advertising scripts, and no third-party fonts or embeds.
- Counts, not people. We count downloads per file, update checks per day, version, channel, operating system and CPU type, and renewal checks per day and outcome. These counters store no IP addresses, user agents, licenses or other identifiers.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider (Google Cloud) and our network provider (Cloudflare) process requests, including IP addresses, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don't keep request logs beyond the providers' default retention, and we don't use them to identify visitors.
- Downloads are served from Cloudflare R2 storage. A download link counts the download and redirects you to the file.
Licenses and email
When you get a Pro or Team license, we keep a record of it: the licensee name, the email address it was sent to, the plan, its dates and seats, and the order reference from the store that sold it. We use these to send you the license, resend it if you lose it, and answer questions about it.
License emails are sent through Forward Email, our email provider. Purchases are handled by Stripe, through Link, acting as merchant of record: it processes payment and tax details under its own privacy policy, and we receive only what we need to issue the license (your name or company, email address, plan and seats, and the order reference).
If you email us, we keep the conversation to help you, and use your address only to reply.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing[email protected]. We may need to keep a record of a license that was sold, for as long as the law requires.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
